Food Storage

Being prepared for emergencies is always helpful when living in areas prone to disasters or natural calamities. This not helps one not be dependent on aid agencies, but also help them help other people in distress. Having a plan also helps one react quickly to an emergency situation and this improves the odds of survival enormously. In order to be ready, one has to first list the items that will prove invaluable and useful. A common guideline to what to take is the line, “what is it that you cannot live without and can save you from death?”

The first thing to be put in storage is water. The amount is to be chosen based on the number of people expected and the availability of space in the food storage. The next important thing to be packed is medication. This is very important if there are going to be sick or invalid people among the survivors. Last but not least important item in the food storage is the food itself. Since it would take a while to find food sources after the calamity, it is better to pack enough food to last at least three months. Now, the emergency preparation package is complete.
